DISCUSSION

24-3-2016 (Thurs)- INTERIM CRIT #1

Questions Encountered. A Happy Workplace VS A Happy Designer

In order to be a happy designer, I have to learn on how to ask questions which stimulate the listener's interest to discuss.

Often when I tested the defend on my design approaches, the side effect of the action is reduce the interest of the listener to respond and discuss in a friendly manner.

"Scenario: I saw a presenter that doesn't speaks up clear but she managed to make the listener to listen and provide response to her problems. I want a fruitful discussion but what is the way to get it? The good thing about that presenter is that she has a very clear structure of her presentation where she doesn't have to speak a lot."

A good presentation structure is probably what I need. I was "bombarded" with a few questions where I couldn't manage to answer due to it is not the main point of the presentation.

I was asked on:

INTRODUCTION
What is the relation of KL Tower with MSC?

What is the benefits of MSC companies?

URBAN

The covered pedestrian linkage with PV and traverlator

The panel doesn't fancy the idea of spending that money to connect the people from LRT to my site where I mentioned these would benefit the stadium, school, astro company along the way has became a distraction instead of a point.

The panel commented that why not solving the internal connection in TPM instead of trying to connect the TPM with Bukit Jalil context. This will not only infringe security.

The panel mentioned that I should try to unite the TPM community and not the outsider. Maybe I was focusing on the wrong thing this time. I agree as this would make the panel focus more on my site next time, instead of questioning me about the developments far from the site.

What's next? Maybe I will take out that pedestrian link approach and just left with urban analysis to make panel focus on my project instead of this next time.

PRECEDENT STUDIES

The panel thought that my precedent study on local companies are just interior but I mentioned that it was about the programming that I am going to proposed in my site.

PERSPECTIVE

What does the first escalator leads to?

Why the shared office needs to be angled at that way? Because the view inspires the technopreneurs which need to be creative.

FEASIBILITY STUDY ON SOLAR PANEL

To check back on the payback period 13 years. It should be 6 to 7 years.

Q1: How to design a work place where coming to work is no longer a stressful decision for the users?

Creating shared office, inclusion of sports pocket spaces, and a happening transport & facility centre are apparently not enough for an exicting workplace.

Q2: Can you conclude your design thesis with a statement? Architecture statement?
Sample: https://www.studential.com/personal-statement-examples/architecture-personal-statements

The panel finally think that I should potray the technopreneurship with my building and what this have to do to technopreneur. Overall it was a great crit after all.
